Aberdeen Cyrenians Chief Executive, Mike Burns joined more than 8,000 others on Saturday night sleeping in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens to raise money and awareness for those experiencing homelessness in Scotland.
Although only braving sub-zero temperatures for one night, Sleep in the Park highlighted the additional difficulties those sleeping rough face in winter and brought nationwide attention to the need to tackle the issue of homelessness that affects 11,000 households in Scotland.
Mike said: “It was fantastic to see such huge support not only from the public but from every aspect of business and every level of government within Scotland. There is clear desire for solutions to be found to alleviate the causes of homelessness and for those impacted by it. If we can capitalise on events like this and mobilise that support, we will be able to make great strides towards ensuring everyone in our community has a safe and secure place to call home.”
